A few European countries, including Greece, have been dealing with major debt crises since 2009. The country faced similar conditions to the UK and was preparing to withdraw from the Eurozone. Despite a rejection of a bailout in the 2015 referendum, the EU opted to issue a bailout to Greece anyway, and this is why Greece's inequality is among the highest in the union, with only the UK, Hungary, Ireland, and Poland ahead of it.
