After the 2016 election, trust in the CBC began to decline significantly; it had been declining at a slower rate than CBS, NBC, and ABC's news agencies since the mid-1990s. The political situation in Canada is seeing fascist parties taking control in Alberta and Saskatchewan, and protofascists taking control on Ontario and Quebec. Legault is the first right-wing premier of Quebec since the 1970 October Crisis, and he and Doug Ford have been increasing austerity measures at the provincial level since they were elected in 2018. Approximately half of Canada's provinces have right-wing premiers, and this is covering 2/3 of Canada's population. Income inequality has increased in Canada by about 5/8 of America's income inequality increases since the 1990s, when the country's social safety net was being liquidated. The social safety net was gone by the end of the 1990s, and this is why the fascist parties are taking control in both Alberta and Saskatchewan. This means that Canada is not immune to having a Trumpist government in America. Once fascist parties fully take control of America by January 2025, the amount of Canadian provinces with fascist governments will increase greatly, and this will pave the way to a fully fascist federal government in that country soon afterwards.
