As of 2021, an investment rate of 50% is not enough anymore because that would trigger austerity measures. Since the early 1990s, austerity measures have been imposed across most of the EU and these measures have resulted in an increase in poverty. We are now seeing fascist parties begin to occupy the parliaments of most EU countries. The most notorious examples are in Spain and Greece, where Vox won local elections in Madrid in 2021 and ND won the 2019 federal election after SYRIZA failed to handle the country's debt crisis. In order to sustain global civilization, an investment rate of 75% is required, and this may not be possible due to the world beginning to run out of the resources it needs to sustain it.
