Canada and European Union social democracies are now suffering through their own crises thanks to the 2008 financial crisis. The social safety nets weakened in both areas after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 thanks to austerity measures, and imposition of further austerity is expected throughout the 2020s. Poverty increases are happening as a result of austerity measures, which will cause fascist parties to take contol of some areas, for example, Alberta, Hungary, Poland to name a few. A second civil war in America would spill over into Canada because Alberta and Saskatchewan maintain similar government structures to GOP-controlled red states, and both of them are very conservative.
