European governments have been implementing austerity measures since the 2008 financial crisis as a result of a sovereign debt crisis. As a result of the imposition of austerity, poverty began to increase, and this is why fascist parties are winning elections in Europe as well. The poverty increase played a factor in the UK's decision to leave the EU in 2016-2020. We are now seeing privatization increasing in Europe and this is going to result in an expansion of fascism globally.
