Who will enjoy the luxury of democracy? Probably only those few nations who have been fortunate enough to find themselves in temperate zones — and wise enough to plan for its survival, by investing heavily in functioning systems. Canada and Western Europe and Scandinavia will be, most likely, a small archipelago of democracy on a planet desperately fighting for subsistence and existence. And even they will be challenged time and again by fascist-fundamentalist movements, emanating from collapsed societies like America, hoping to seize their resources.
