The Canadian provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Quebec are also dealing with this very issue. All three of those provinces have been affected by austerity measures since Canada's social safety net collapsed in the late 1980s. This has resulted in an increase in poverty which is resulting in figures like Jason Kenney and Doug Ford (the latter of who is proto-fascist) being elected to power as premiers after the 2016 presidential election. The provinces of Alberta and Quebec are now experiencing an increase in the population of non-white people, which is angering the white population just like it did in Florida and Arizona. The white population of those provinces is now turning to parties such as the UCP and the CAQ, both of them being right-wing parties that operate very similar to the GOP.
