The decivilization of the world began with many politicians enacting the Reagan-Thatcher idea in the 1980s after Jimmy Carter warned us about it in his sweater speech. The UK and America, along with their satellite states, began utilizing Reaganomics, which ultimately resulted in an increase in sovereign and corporate debt that caused economic and debt bubbles to form between 1999 and today. Every time one of the bubbles popped, a major economic crisis hits; for example, the 2008 financial crisis was caused by a bursting of the bubble that was home to companies such as Lehman Brothers, who filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy, thus triggering the crisis. In an attempt to fix the crises, the governments implemented austerity measures, which consists of cuts to services and tax increases that have the aim of reducing sovereign debt. Although the austerity measures reduced government debt on some occasions, they provoke an increase in poverty, which causes a major increase in extremist violence. All three factors either result in neofascist parties taking control of countries or a military dictatorship happening. Both things are extremely bad for a society, and this results in the world being dehumanized.
