The financialization of America's sickcare system (i.e. the big hospital corporations and insurers) began after Nixon closed the gold window in 1971. Most European countries and Canada utilize a socialist healthcare system that does not depend on the financialized sickcare aspects. The UK did that with the NHS between its creation and the election of Thatcher as prime minister; under Thatcher, the NHS began to utilize a variant of the financialized sickcare system that was prevalent in America, which later became common in Belize, Mexico, Bermuda, Barbados, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Chile, Suriname, Guyana, Argentina, and Aruba. This was also expanded to the former Soviet Union countries, Bulgaria, Turkey, Cyprus, and Malta during the mid-1990s. Since the early 2000s, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec have begun using financialization to a lesser extent, with similar results to America. The financialization of the sickcare system is an element of America's reliance on predatory capitalism for healthcare-related reasons. This is why I voted for Biden on the WFP line instead of the Democratic line.
