The great redistribution cannot begin if austerity measures remain in place across the world. According to the International Monetary Fund, a total of 159 countries around the world (including the United States and the European Union) are implementing austeritymeasures between late 2021 and late 2022. The austerity measures that are going to be taken in those countries will impact 6.6 billion people (or 85% of the total global population). The imposition of austerity measures around the globe leads to poverty among the people who are impacted, resulting in the poorest white working class people scapegoating immigrants and other BIPOC people. The austerity-poverty cycle results in fascism being implemented in many countries around the world. A key example of this was the democratic Myanmar government of 2015-2020, which imposed austerity measures at timesduring their fiveyears in power. Poverty would continue to grow in the country despite the austerity measures there being relatively small. In the November 2020 elections, the democratic government was elected to a second term, and the military claimed that the elections were fradulent. This repeated fightigover the election results, combined with a worsening of economic conditions as a result of the austerity measures, resulted in the military seizing power in a coup that took place in Feruary 2021. The military government that took over implemented a fascist form of governance that was similar to the Thai military junta of 2014-2019.
