The thing that is missing from this is that the planet is running out of the resources it needs to sustain global civilization. According to the book known asThe Limits to Growth, a population collapse is expected to happen once the planet runs out of resources. But in the graph that is shown in the book, food production and industrial reduction collapse first due to dwindling resources, with population collapsing 20-40 years after that point as a result of this.
