Trumpism is gaining ground because of austerity measures imposed by the Western governments as a result of the 2008 financial crisis, resulting in an increase in poverty that causes ⅔ of the working class to turn towards right wing parties. The other ⅓ of the working class is associated with centrist or left wing parties, with ¾ of that towards centrist parties. As centrist parties move further to the right, everyone gets alienated, causing fascists to rise to power even if the popular vote is lost, which is what is expected in January 2025. The only way out of this is to develop a Trotskyist socialist government, not the so-called social democracy-like system that is explained in this article. Social democracy-like systems collapse because of austerity measures.
