What is so unfortunate about this article is that this approach is being tried to a lesser extent in the European Union, albeit with some additional safety measures in place. The real problem shared by both organizations is that healthcare austerity measures have been in place since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Canada has imposed healthcare austerity since the early 1980s, which resulted in the social safety net collapsing towards the end of the decade. As a result, Canada is now about to experience a crisis that most Americans are already facing: the country's limited testing capacity is causing hospitals to be overloaded, causing most of the country's premieres to only implement mild restrictions (or in the case of Alberta and Saskatchewan no restrictions at all in a manner similar to most of America). You're failing to understand that this is not a problem that is exclusive to America.
