You are right. Although many satellite states of America (Canada as an example) are considered to be full democracies, they have begun to develop traits of neofascism after the 2008 financial crisis. What is very important here is that many of these countries suffered from debt crises as a result of this event, and as a result had to implement austerity measures in an attempt to alleviate the sovereign debt situation. It is clear that austerity measures lead to an increae in poverty which in turn results in neofascism happening after the state becomes poor enough. You are seeing privatization happening everywhere, from the NHS in the UK to the increasing privatization of railway lines in Japan.
