You're failing to mention that the European Union and many Canadian provinces have been implementing austerity measures since well before the 2008 financial crisis. We are now seeing an increase in poverty on those regions which is causing fascists to rise to power in areas like Alberta, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia. In addition, fascist parties are rapidly gaining seats in countries like Greece, Spain and Germany, which had all been affected by debt crises.
